+----------------------------------------------+ SCMU v1.3 - StarCraft Map Unlapper version 1.3 made by Angelfarto ©2006 +----------------------------------------------+ +-----------------+ Zip file contents +-----------------+ SCMU v1.3.exe - the program SFmpq.dll - ShadowFlare MPQ API Library (for opening maps) ReadMe.txt - This'n here file might require Visual Basic runtimes.. +----------+ How to use +----------+ - Drag and drop any scx/scm file into the program. (or select Open from the menu) - Edit the map name and take out the laps (AND INVISIBLES!) (add colors if you want it to look nice) - Select Save from the menu. (auto-saves to WhateverMap@1.14.scx meaning it uses the original filename, and adds "@1.14" to the end) (This is so you don't overwrite the original map) +-------+ Options +-------+ - Fix Invisible The in-game invisible color is now red. This is not good because all invisible text can now be seen as red text. + Turning this option on fixes this problem, and makes that text invisible again. - Turning it off leaves all invisible colors alone. (Why not always fix? Usually people use invisible text to lap game-text, or unit names. But if you want to learn how they do it, don't fix invis so you can see how) - Append "@1.14" Adds @1.14 to the end of the new filename when you save. *This option is turned on automatically everytime you open a map* + Keep this option checked so you don't overwrite the original map. (Recommended) - Un-checking this option and then saving will write any changes to the original map! (Not Recommended) (I recommend you always keep this option Checked. There's no real reason to ever save over the original map) - Show Ascii Codes When checked, the map name preview shows the ugly ascii codes for colors and invisibles (the bars/squares). When unchecked, the map name preview shows the closest approximation to what the text would look like in a real game. (Hides bars/squares and hides invisible text) +----------+ Known Bugs +----------+ - "Save Failed" error SCMU can now automatically fix this error most of the time. If you don't want it to, (and click 'no') just try making the new mapname the SAME LENGTH as the old one (you can use spaces at the end). (This is what the auto fix does anyway) i.e. old map name - "Eminem BouNDEminem BouND " new map name - "Eminem BouND " - ANY invisible color WON'T be compatible with 1.14. (This is not a limitation of SCMU, but of patch 1.14) - Map name/forces, after opening a map, are not what you expect (or all jumbled nonsense characters) You have encountered a map which SCMU v1.3 cannot unlap. Please email me the map and tell me the problem so that I can work on a solution for it. (email at bottom of this file) - Long file names Starcraft can only read maps that have a filename of 31 characters or less (including the 3-letter extension). SCMU adds "@1.14" (an extra 5 letters to the filename), so this might cause problems. Rather than give the user a "Save As" feature in SCMU, it handles this automatically. So, if your original file name is something like: "{6} Bounds_The_Challenge_3b.scx" = 31 characters the saved map name will be: "{6} Bounds_The_Challen@1.14.scx" = 31 characters it lops off the end, and adds @1.14. Yes, this is a lazy way of dealing with it, since Bounds The Challenge 2 might have the same exact 1.14 name. But I don't expect you should run into this problem often. +--------+ Versions +--------+ [1.3] December 2006 - Auto-fix on save failed error (corrects map name length) - Removed invisible color - Invisible is NOT patch 1.14 compatible - Rearranged layout slightly - Updated this readme [1.2] November 2006 - Starcraft-like GUI - Map name preview (how it looks in the real game) - Sexi splash screen - 1.14 incompatibility warning - 'Menu -> Help Me' loads this ReadMe file - Fixed Fix Invisible option (it now acually works) [1.1] November 2006 - Added Drag-and-Drop of map files directly to the program! - Color selection is faster and easier. - Added "Help Me!" option in menu. - This ReadMe file is nicer looking =] - Fixes Long File Name problem (see Known Bugs above) [1.0] October 2006 - 7 available colors to use for map name (excluding lap chars) - Remembers the last folder you opened a map in. - Edit and save changes to Map Name string. - Read-only Forces strings. - 'Save' option saves a copy of the original map, to the original folder, and adds "@1.14" to original filename. - 'Append "@1.14"' option allows users to make a copy of the original map, instead of overwriting the original. - 'Fix Invisible' option allows users to make all invisible text invisible again (instead of being red) +------------------------------------+ Questions / Comments +------------------------------------+ Angelfarto@gmail.com http://www.angelfarto.com/
