Introduction

For those of you who don't know what a bound is...
A bound is: "A set of certain kind(s) of obstacles which you must pass to achieve victory."
By saying "certain kind(s)" it is being vague. Generally, it is mazes, dodging, and explosion obstacles.

A bound is played mostly online on a computer game called StarCraft and StarCraft Broodwar.
The player or "bounder" controls a unit by first selecting it, then clicking the destination location with the computer mouse on the viewing screen. The bounder then manipulates the unit to pass a obstacle.

This obstacle is a "wave" and an "explosion" type. This wave goes from right to left.

In this case the unit is a Zerg Zergling (AKA Zergling or Ling).
The Ling is the most common controlled unit in bounds.

Here, the Player controlling the Ling times the obstacle loop, and clicks on other side.

Notice that the player clicked early but the Ling ran at the correct time?
This is due to online play which has a delay of about 300 milliseconds.
Offline play has no delay.

Will the Ling make it!? o_o

Argh! Died at the last square!
Unfortunately you cannot run this obstacle, but there's a way to do it!
Can you think of a way?

The player stops a little past halfway and clicks back to turn, again this click is delayed, it seems way too early.

The Ling is now in mid turn to try jump the incoming explosion.

The Ling jumped the explosion!
This gives the Player a lot more time to possibly beat the obstacle.

The obstacle loops but this time the Ling makes it because of the turn it made in the middle.

Try to keep this in mind when designing an obstacle:
  • What will the ling to do.
  • Is it designed efficient.
  • Can the Player "cheat" the obstacle. Such as running a obstacle when that is not what you intended.

This is one of many obstacles that you can make, and many is an understatement.
