StarCraft Map Unlapper

Intro
SCMU was created for the purpose of defeating the evil effects that Blizzard's (now practically infamous) BroodWar Patch 1.14 had on many UMS games and gamers.

1.14, as it's commonly called, disabled any multi-play capablility that a map with a lapped map name had. (Yet you can still play these maps alone).

The point of that? Some say to make BW more spoof or hack-proof, others say its Blizzard's way of stickin' it to us.

What does it do?
SCMU allows the user to take any scx/scm map and edit the map name.

This will allow many old maps to be played online again (by removing any lapping characters).

See below for complete feature list and version history.

NOTE: This program does NOT remove protection on the map in any way.

Pink characters make your map unplayable
  -->

Edited map name, that is playable online

How to use it
Drag and drop any scx/scm file into the program. (or select Open from the menu)

Edit the map name and take out the laps. (add colors if you want it to look nice)

Select Save from the menu. (auto-saves to WhateverMap@1.14.scx - does NOT overwrite original map file)

Extras
Unlap a map only if there isn't a 1.14 copy of it already. (Check bound archive first!)

Maps that give you a Save Failed error can now be fixed automatically by scmu. (Otherwise, try making new map name the same length as the old one).

Any invisible color will make your map INCOMPATIBLE with 1.14. SCMU will now warn you if invisibles exist in map name.

SCMU is always expanding, and your feedback is welcome. If you find a problem, or a map that cant be unlapped, give me an email: angelfarto at gmail.com

For you map authors, SCMU is a useful tool just to get rid of that stupid red lettering on your lapped unit names (even if your map is unlapped!). Just make sure "Fix Invisible" is checked (it is by default) and save the map.

(note: Edit the map name slightly in order to save the map)
